What`s On
—• OCTOBER 2024 AT SILENT CINEMA •—
October 5th, Saturday | 8:00 PM
Doors & Wine Bar from 7:30 | PG
October at Silent Cinema kicks off with a showcase of the earliest films that we now recognize as sci-fi. Join us this Saturday to witness the inception of this captivating genre. You'll enjoy short films from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including the very first robot battle, at a time when the term "robot" was yet to be coined. This isn't the first or second (likely the third?) screening of these films. For those who have attended before, you know you can indulge in Alien Brain Hemorrhage from our bar, a special drink crafted for this event. As a sci-fi enthusiast, this is an experience you won't want to miss. Discover the fascinating origins of this incredible film niche!

Let’s be real, this film feels like it could be the concept for an adult movie script. Perhaps it only exists in our minds, and if that’s the case, let’s just move on. The Doll from 1919 is a hilarious comedy about a man who, pressured by his uncle to marry, cleverly tricks him by tying the knot with a lifelike mechanical doll instead.
This delightful film was directed by Ernst Lubitsch, one of the early pioneers and brilliant minds in the world of cinema.
