10,00 € - 27,00 €
On March 21st, in conjunction with the Galway Grá Festival, we invite you to The Dragon Painter - a rare Hollywood silent-era film from 1919, featuring an almost entirely Asian cast, including Japanese lead Sessue Hayakawa. It's a romance drama based on the novel of the same name, written by Mary McNeil Fenollosa.

This lyrical, visually arresting Japanese fairy-tale touches on the interesting idea that an artist must be longing for something in order to feel inspiration, and if his desires are fulfilled it may kill the creative process. A wild man and genius becomes a master painter's disciple, but loses his divine gift when he finds love.

Live musical accompaniment by Graham Keane and Brendan Pooley.
