On March 28th, we warmly invite you to embark on a cinematic and musical adventure through São Paulo as it was in the late 1920s. São Paulo, Sinfonia da Metrópole (1929) is a silent, black-and-white documentary film from Brazil, directed by Adalberto Kemeny and Rudolf Rex Lustig. It showcases urbanism, fashion, public monuments, industrialization, historical events, the growth of coffee production, education, and the sounds of everyday life. Drawing inspiration from the classic documentary Berlin: Die Sinfonie der Großstadt (1927), Hungarian filmmakers Kemeny and Lustig, who operated one of Brazil's top film laboratories at the time, created this remarkable documentary.

Live musical accompaniment by Mila Maia & Friends.
