What`s this and that?
This event marks the beginning of a series designed to cater to a particular group of individuals. These individuals are easily identifiable as they wander about, gazing at the pavement or walls, and scratching their heads. They are clearly deep in thought.
For whom is this and that?
Typically, they are young students with a desire for something. They may not know exactly what that something is, but they are aware that they want it. Whether it's performing their music in front of an audience or sharing their poetry in a forum, they have a yearning to express themselves. Some have a wealth of jokes but lack an audience to appreciate them, except for their grandma, but she lives in Waterford. They might be planning to create a short film about their flatmates or showcase their ability to juggle glowing pieces of peat. They even have a remarkably talented yet foul-mouthed parrot that relentlessly disses everyone, including their friend's parrot.
How to participate?
This restless urge to display their talents to the world often goes unfulfilled. That’s where we come in to save the day! Specifically, our new event, This and That, or Maybe Something Else, Not Sure Yet, is here to help.
To participate, fill out the contact form and tell us what you’d like to present to an audience; then wait for our response before coming to showcase your skills. We are waiting for applications until October 21st.
You can apply as many times as you wish to reveal your passion until you discover that special something.
Alternatively, you can simply purchase a ticket and attend as a spectator to witness the talents of others.
Every performer in front of a Silent Cinema audience will receive compensation in a form we are still scratching our heads over.But one thing is certain - it will be worth it! Go for it. We know you want to!
What else to expect?
Performances by volunteers will be interspersed with screenings of iconic silent comedy shorts featuring biggest stars like Chaplin, Keaton, Lloyd and others, with live piano accompaniment by our resident pianist.
