Let’s be real, this film feels like it could be the concept for an adult movie script. Perhaps it only exists in our minds, and if that’s the case, let’s just move on. The Doll from 1919 is a hilarious comedy about a man who, pressured by his uncle to marry, cleverly tricks him by tying the knot with a lifelike mechanical doll instead.
This delightful film was directed by Ernst Lubitsch, one of the early pioneers and brilliant minds in the world of cinema.
Screening with live piano accompaniment by Mila Maia.
